I was sent a question by Carol, who just downloaded my Tips for iPad app from the App Store.  She wrote:

Hi Worth,

I currently own an iPad (gifted to me, otherwise I wouldn’t have purchased one), and basically am clueless about it’s operations.  I don’t have an iPhone, but a Blackberry, and so none of this makes sense.

I purchased your tutorial app and unless I am doing something incorrectly, don’t see the step by step lessons that you promised in your virtual free tour.

Is there something I am not opening that guides me to full knowledge of this computer?

I am not interested in Facebook nor Twitter, but just want to be able to use this as easily as I use my PC or my BB.

My response:

Hi Carol,
  Thanks for downloading my iPad tutorial app.  All of the step-by-step video lessons in the app are located by opening the app, tapping the Home button (the house icon) if necessary, then tapping “iPad Lessons”

   On the iPad Lessons screen you’ll find three main categories of lessons – “Basics for iPad”, “Apps From Apple”, and “iPad Settings”  “Basics” covers covers basic concepts and fundamentals, “Apps from Apple” covers most of the apps Apple provides with the iPad with more coming in future updates, and “iPad Settings” covers the many options in the Settings App.

  Tapping any one of the above options will take you to a list of lessons in that category.  After tapping on any of the categories  swiping up or down on the list of lessons will scroll through them, tapping the play button for any one of the lessons will start playing it.

  I would start with the iPad Basics section and then look at specific apps for more help after that.

  The Facebook & Twitter section is optional and mainly there so you can keep up with my Twitter posts (you don’t even need a Twitter account to read them) where I mostly share links to useful or interesting articles about computers, iPads, and related technology.
